After the breakthrough success of Three 6 Mafia’s The End proved that Memphis rap could thrive on a national level, DJ Paul and Juicy J turned their attention to spotlighting one of the group’s most enigmatic members. The result was Koopsta Knicca’s cult‑classic solo album Da Devil’s Playground - a defining release in early Memphis underground rap.
The project compiles and reimagines Koopsta’s earlier solo recordings, many of which originally circulated only in small, local circles long before Three 6 Mafia reached mainstream recognition.
