In 1972, Brighter Side of Darkness, a group of Chicago high-schoolers, released their debut single, "Love Jones," which was a million-selling, gold-certified, national R&B smash. Unable to replicate the success of that first single, the group flamed out long after the release of their Love Jones album, but the group remains one of Soul music's enduring one-hit wonders. The album itself is an excellent blend of harmony Soul and compelling arrangements, which resonate deeper than many of the other 70's era kid-Soul projects.
